Forecast Thursday, June 6th.

Summer-like Conditions are ahead! It is a new day; make the best of it you're not guaranteed tomorrow in life. Happy Thursday, North Carolina! Strong heating is expected today; hot and muggy conditions will allow for temperatures to warm into the upper 80s and low 90s for most areas. Heat index values will be near 100° in spots. A mid and upper-level trough will be moving through the great lakes today; it'll send a trough through North Carolina this afternoon and evening. We will have strong heating of the day that'll allow for CAPE values to reach 2,500+ J/kg; we should see scattered showers and thunderstorms develop this afternoon and evening, mainly between 3P-11PM.

As we've seen the past few days, hit-or-miss storms are possible gusty winds are the main threat, but an isolated storm may reach severe limits with damaging winds this afternoon and evening. The severe risk will overall be low, but a couple of storms could be strong to maybe severe. I'll be monitoring like normal.
