Forecast Tuesday June 25th.

A new day is ahead, which means it is a fresh start, but the heat does not change. Happy Tuesday, North Carolina! It'll be much quieter today, severe weather is not expected, but the heat stays around. A cold front dropped through the state last night; the only noticeable change will be a little lower humidity. Highs today will be in the 90s for most areas, but heat index values will be a little lower, thanks to the lower humidity. The heat and humidity will be with us for the rest of the week though. Rain chances are very low to 0% for most areas; an isolated popup storm will be possible along the sea breeze today in Eastern NC.

The National Weather Service says this about the upcoming heat wave: Periods of dangerously hot weather will continue into next weekend,

as temperatures will remain well above normal for this time of year.

Shade air temperatures will rise well into the 90s each day, while

heat index values peak as high as the upper 90s to near 105. The

most dangerous heat will occur on Wednesday and Saturday. These

unusually hot conditions for this time of year will increase the risk

of heat related illnesses, especially for those without access to

air conditioning. Avoid outdoor activities during the warmest parts

of the day.
