Scattered to Numerous Showers and Thunderstorms are Possible on Thursday. Low-end Severe Risk

Thursday Storm Update: A cold front will drop through the state on Thursday, sparking showers and thunderstorms across the state. A few could be strong to potentially severe in the afternoon and evening. High CAPE Values and some shear will allow storms to develop.

‼️ WHAT: Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms are likely Thursday afternoon and evening across the entire state, producing gusty winds, cloud-to-ground lightning, and heavy rainfall. A couple of storms could be strong to severe with damaging winds, and the SPC has issued a level 1/5 risk of Severe Weather for the whole state. Looking over the latest data, I can't rule out an upgrade to a level 2/5 risk for part of the Central and Eastern part of the state on Thursday. Will monitor, regardless of the official threat a couple strong to severe storms are possible. Damaging winds/heavy rainfall are the main threats.

However, due to the front and some boundaries around, I can't completely rule out an isolated spin-up tornado, but that threat is very low.

⏰ Timing: 12-1AM dropping south and east through the day, a couple of storms/showers possible in the morning, mainly along the Outer Banks nonsevere.

👀 The Bottom Line: The coverage of storms will be higher on Thursday compared to the past few days, and we could see a couple strong to maybe severe storms in the afternoon and evening. Stay weather-aware and move indoors if you hear thunder. I'll be monitoring.
